Abstract

369,352. Rotary kilns. FASTING, J. S., 9, Monradsalle, Valby, near Copenhagen. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5522. [Class 51 (ii).] In a rotary cement kiln in which the kiln tube, for part of its length, is divided up into a number of smaller tubes 3 separated from one another, the smaller tubes are further subdivided into a number of longitudinal passages 4. The partitions forming the passages may be of heat-resisting metal at the cooler end and of firebrick at the hotter, and cold air may be supplied through the opening 6 to prevent overheating. The material is fed into the passages 4 by blades 5. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), for use in the wet process, the partitions are provided at the hotter ends only of the tubes 3, and the unsubdivided portions contain chains or other heat-transmitting bodies.
