[Class 140.] Reinforced metal foil is produced by pressing the foil into the interstices of an open fabric consisting wholly or of a substantial proportion of non-metallic threads, the foil adhering to the fabric by reason of its being bent around the threads. One method of producing the foil, Fig. 3, is by drawing foil 3 and fabric 4 from reels 5, 6, respectively, and pressing between rolls 7 together Vi ith a resilient backing of sheet rubber drawn from a reel 9. The rolls 7 are of hard material, but the necessity for a resilient backing may be obviated by using one roll of yielding material. A roll and flat surface or two flat surfaces may be used to press the foil into the fabric. Specification 311,792, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], is referred to.
