368,342. Flanging tubes. CROXFORD, G., 25, Shannon Street, Wellington, New Zealand. Dec. 4, 1930, No. 36536. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] A device for forming a flange on a tube by expanding same from the inside comprises a mandrel E provided at the end with a crossbar F or hand-wheel and bored to receive a screw plunger N formed with a conical end N<1> to actuate a taper block K carrying a pin M projecting through a hole J. The screw plunger N is fitted with a cross-pin o coacting with a screw cap P and with the end of the mandrel to limit the lateral movement of pin M. A rotatable sleeve G gripped by pipe tongs through the wall of the tube aids in the rotation of the mandrel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that balls R, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), may be provided in place of the pin M; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
