Abstract
367,971. Weighing- apparatus fitted to tipplers. WEST, E. and WEST'S GAS IMPROVEMENT CO., Ltd., Albion Ironworks, Miles Platting, Manchester. Dec. 23, 1930, No. 38723. [Class 143.] In a wagon tippler of the kind in which the wagon is carried on a platform h mounted on a frame a which has a tipping movement about c, a weighbridge i is so located that when the tippler is brought to rest in a position in which the wagon can be run on to the rails on the platform h, the unbalanced weight of the tippler on the side of the pivot c carrying the platform h, is imposed upon the weighbridge. The platform h is pivoted to an extension g of the frame a and is supported on the weighbridge by rollers h2, h<1>, h<4> and distance pieces h3. Ramps l, fixed or adjustably mounted on the weighbridge supports, engage the rollers h<1>, on the return of the tippler so as to bring the platform h to rest on the weighbridge without shock. Ramps may also be provided to engage the rollers h4. Wedges may be inserted between the ends of the platform h and the supporting ledges to protect the weighbridge when not required for use. An adjustable counterbalance may be provided at b. Specifications 194,812 and 323,257, [both in Class 78 (iv), Loading &c.], are referred to.
