Abstract
367,369. Trollies ; propelling. CHRISTIANSEN, H., 80, Fahltskamp, Pinneburg, Germany. Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34208. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1929. [Classes 103 (iii) and 108 (i).] A motor-driven pusher or locomotive running on rails or road for manoeuvring railway vehicles and in which the weight of the vehicle to be moved is utilized to increase the adhesion weight of the pusher, engages the vehicle by means of a thrust rod m sloping upwardly in the direction of travel so that the vertical component of the thrust reacts on the pusher and increases the pressure of its wheels on the track. In the construction shown the pusher wheels run on a single rail and are made with broad cylindrical surfaces as shown so that they can run on the ground. The rod m is pivoted at l to the main frame c to which balance levers f, g carrying the wheels h<1> .. h<4> are pivoted at d, e, respectively, so that the load on each wheel is equal. More than four wheels may be used with a suitable arrangement of balance levers. The wheels may be covered with flexible material such as rubber or leather. An internal-combustion engine a drives all four wheels through chain gearing j<1> .. j<4> arranged as shown. The end of the rod m, which may be double as shown in broken lines in Fig. 2, is suitably shaped to engage the frame or buffer or other part of the vehicle.
