Axle-trucks. and bogies.-Means for transporting locomotives, carriage, bulky machinery or on railways comprise a bogie f attached to each end of the locomotive &c. by extension pieces a by which the locomotive &c. is raised clear of the track. The extension pieces a, in the case of a locomotive, are attached to the frame-plate by bolts b and to the buffer beam by hook bolts e and brackets and angles c. The extension pieces a rest on a centre-plate carried by the bogie saddle d which may be provided with screw or other means for moving the locomotive &c. laterally, if necessary, to clear obstructions along the permanent way. The locomotive &c. may be raised clear of the track by the bolts e or may be raised onto the bogie by a crane.
