Abstract

367,166. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen ; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) Feb. 9, 1931, No. 4038. Convention date, March 5, 1930. [Class 39 (i).] Starting means comprising a highfrequency apparatus 11 and a .transformer supplying h eat i n g current to incandescent electrodes 5, 6 are put into and out of circuit simultaneously by means of a switch 24 which is operated by a winding 22 in series with the tube. The high-frequency apparatus, consisting of an oscillator &c., and the transformer primary 15 are connected across the mains through the switch 24. Secondaries 16, 17 are connected to the electrodes.- The leads 13 carrying the highfrequency current may be wrapped around the tube or connected to the electrodes. A choke 9 is connected in series with the tube, and the filling may consist of a gas or vapour or of a mixture thereof.
