Abstract

366,939. Vehicle lamps. RUSSELL, R. D., 126, Sutherland Avenue, London. Nov. 10, 1930, No. 33856. [Class 75 (iv).] Lantern screens.- An automatically adjustable antidazzle device for vehicle lamps comprises a frame 1 supported by means completely encircling the base 3 of the incandescent electric lamp bulb 4, the free ends 5 of the frame being pivotally accommodated in perforations 6 in a counterweighted shield 7 which has a downwardly extending front portion 8 adapted to obscure the bulb 4 and cut away so as to allow more light to pass forwardly and laterally on one side (for example, the near-side) than on the other. The supporting means may comprise one or more turns 2 in the resilient U-shaped frame 1 and the shield may have a reflecting or non-reflecting external surface. The counterweight 9 is held by a wire or like strip 11 arranged substantially in the longitudinal median plane of the lamp reflector, passing through sleeves or eyes 12 formed in the shield, and formed into a rearwardly extending loop 13 which is adapted to engage the bulb 4 and limit the upward displacement of the shield.
