Abstract
<PICT:0366885/III/1> In an apparatus for the adsorption of gases or vapours the adsorbent is arranged in separate layers A1 .. A4 separated by spaces L1 .. L3, which may contain heating and cooling devices H1, H2, H3. During adsorption the gas is passed through all the layers in series. The gas used for the expulsion of the adsorbed substances may also be passed through the layers in series but in the opposite direction, or through them in parallel. The gases used for cooling or drying after regeneration are admitted at C, Cl and pass out at D, D1, D2 thus passing through the layers in parallel.
