Abstract

366,341. Apparatus for removing " shine " from fabrics or wearing- apparel. ROSS, A., 6, Piccadilly, London. April 1, 1931, No. 9928. [Class 141.] An apparatus for removing the shine from wearing-apparel or fabrics involves a drum 1 with rotating offset blades 6 to which abrasive liquid is supplied, a hand-controlled valve 8 for admitting the liquid to a flexible pipe 10, and a casing 11 in which is mounted a brush through which the abrasive liquid is supplied to the fabric being operated upon. The brush is shown in section in Fig. 3, and has a series of apertures 15 capable of registering with corresponding holes 16 in the casing. The abrasive material is brushed thoroughly into the cloth and allowed to dry, whereupon it is brushed off and the cloth nap raised by rubbing with carborundum paper or teazles. The blades in the drum are rotated by means of an electric motor 19, driving by chain gearing a shaft 3 carrying the blades 6. The abrasive liquid is supplied to the top of the drum at 7. The brushes are interchangeable with others. Specification 329,003, [Class 42 (i), Fabrics, Finishing &c.], is referred to.
