Abstract

Refractory bricks and other articles are made by burning a mixture of sintered magnesite, a binder, e.g. concentrated waste sulphite liquor, and a small proportion, e.g. 1-3 per cent, of chrome iron ore. The chrome iron ore is added for the purpose of stabilizing impurities, e.g. silicates of lime, in the sintered magnesite.
