Abstract
365,769. Heating liquids. RUUD MANUFACTURING CO., 2934, Smallman, Street, Pittsburg, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Horton, A. J. ; 302, South Aiken Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) Jan. 12, 1931, No. 1069. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1930. [Class 64 (i).] In a liquid heater having a heating unit comprising a tube 8 closed at the upper end 11 and enclosing a sleeve 9 up which pass gases from a burner 10, an annular box 19 is attached to the sleeve 9, the box also being attached to tube 8 by an upwardly extending circumferential flange having a port 21 for the escape of the combustion products which are collected in the box. The sleeve and box may be held in position by screws or, as shown in the drawings, by a bayonet joint, pins 26 on a ring 13 attached to the water container 2 entering slots 27 in the flange of the box. The upper or lower halve of tube may be provided with internal pins to give a predetermined temperature gradient from the lower layers of water to the higher.
