365,727. Stereoscopic pictures; printing-apparatus. KANOLT, C. W., 450, 4th Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36476. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1929. [Class 98 (ii).] To compensate for changes in size of the ribbed celluloid used in the preparation of changeable pictures by printing from a photographic negative on to the opposite surface of the celluloid to the ribs especially as in the process described in Specification 356,705, the negative and the sensitized surface of the celluloid are separated by a small distance and converging or diverging light is employed for printing. In the apparatus shown the celluloid 5 is supported on a ribbed plate 15, being held in intimate contact therewith by vacuum means, and the negative 3 is held in clamps 25. A source of light 2 is located a considerable distance above the negative and the light is restricted to a suitable cone by diaphragms 6, 7, 8. To render the light convergent a convex lens 38 is provided which may be swung out of position as shown in the dotted lines. In a modification, the casing of the apparatus consists of two arms at right-angles the light from the lamp located in one arm being reflected on to the negative in the other arm, enabling the distance of the lamp from the negative to. be greatly increased.
