Abstract

365,653. Letter files. VEIL, J. F., Floreat Lindum, Kings Road, Westcliff-on- Sea. Oct. 25, 1930, No. 32145. [Class 146 (i).] A compresser bar b for a letter file is provided with post-gripping devices comprising two spring wires e having offset parts e<1> connected to a rocking lever a which can be operated to partially rotate the wires e and depress the parts e<1> so as to cause the free ends of the wires to grip the posts d. The lever a has downturned flanges a<1> pivoted to parts b<2> on the bar b formed by slotting and is provided with a pressed-out lug a<3> having perforations through which the parts e<1> of the wires e pass. Flanges a<2>, a<4> on the ends of the lever a engage the bar at the limits of its movement. Inclined lugs f on the bar b engage the free ends of the wires e so that normally they lie parallel to one another adjacent to the post slots c but on depression of the lever a causes them to assume a converging position and grip the posts.
