Abstract

181,484. Lavender, H. P. March 15, 1921. Post files; locking-foldowers.-In a letter file of the type in which two posts 2, extending from a base-plate 1, are engaged by pivoted arched members 4 which are held in closed position against the action of a spring 8 by an operating- lever, the operating-lever is pivoted to the baseplate by means of one or more partly-severed and bent-over tongues. Preferably, two tongues 15, 16 are cut out to engage the lever, so that a bar 10 is left between the holes, by means of which the spring 8 is secured to the base. The operating-lever is formed with three parts 12, 14, 17 mutually at right-angles, the part 12 forming the handle, the part 14 lying flat on the base and forming the pivot, and the part 17 serving to engage the intermediate part of the arch member. A follower-plate 18 having slots 19 for engaging the posts is provided, the slots being cut through to the edge of the plate to form resilient fingers 21.
