Abstract

205,153. Bullock, C. A. H. July 4, 1922. Setting type; keyboards.-In apparatus of the kind described in Specification 189,217, in which the ejected type is taken by the fingers of the operator, the ejecting-mechanism is so constructed that the type to be abstracted is raised by a spring-supported plunger to a position in which it is almost clear of the rest of the type in the channel, so as to facilitate its removal. Type-channels 3, Fig. 1, having detachable ejecting-units 4, are mounted in a frame 1 provided with legs 2. Each ejecting-unit comprises a casing 5, Fig. 3, in which slides a spring plunger 11 having a projection 12 on to which two or more type move when the plunger is depressed, and by which the type are raised when the plunger is released. One or more fixed projections 14 support the lowest of the raised type, and the others slide or are pushed back when the plunger is again depressed. The type resting on the projections 14 passes through an aperture in a key or finger-piece 15, when the plunger is depressed, and is grasped by the fingers of the operator.
