Abstract

968,999. Lever arch files. A. SOENNECKEN. Oct. 6, 1960 [Nov. 28, 1959], No. 34347/60. Heading B6E. A lever arch file of the type comprising a sheet retaining appliance including a base-plate having two stationary filing posts spaced apart and extending substantially perpendicularly therefrom and two movable curved stirrups 11, whose lower ends are interconnected by a yoke member or crank movable by means of a lever against spring means, is provided with resilient retaining members 5 of laminated polyamide or polythene located around shaped apertures 6 in the top cover 3. The tongues 7 of the members 5 are spaced at a distance less than the thickness of the stirrups 11 so that when the file is closed the tongues 7 spring back and support the inner sides 9 of the stirrups. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), a member 5 is additionally located on the outer side of the cover. In the embodiment of Fig. 6, the resilient members 5 are replaced by members 14 which are sprung into slots 15 in the top cover and have protuberances 17 with lips 19 which engage the inner sides 9 of the stirrups 11. The penetration of the stirrups is limited by walls 18 on the members 14.
