A loose-leaf binder has at least two separate flexible leaf-retaining post of resinous material e.g. nylon, "Teflon" (Registered Trade Mark) or copolymers of styrene and butadiene, attached at one end to a cover member of the binder. The lower cover member 2 of the binder is provided with a plurality of aligned threaded sockets 5. Each leafretaining post 9 has an enlarged end 10 which is screwed into a socket 5; the end 10 may be threaded or plain in which case the threads in the socket 5 cut complementary threads thereon. The other cover member 11 of the binder has a channel shaped member 15 secured to the outer face thereof by rivets 16, holes being provided in the plate 11 and member 15 so that the posts 9 can be passed therethrough after the sheets 8 to be filed have been engaged on the posts. The member 15 is formed at each end with a curved tongue 20 on which locking members 22 are pivoted by means of inturned lugs 26. The locking members are also channel shaped (Fig. 4) and have additional inturned lugs 28 which co-operate with L- shaped slots 30 in the side walls of the member 15. After being threaded through the holes in the cover 11 the upper ends of the posts 9 are bent over so as to lie substantially parallel to the cover 11 within the channel-shaped member 15. The locking members 22 are then moved from the position shown at the left-hand side of Fig. 7 to the position shown at the right-hand side of that Figure, being pushed towards each other after the angular downwards movement so that the lugs 28 engage in the horizontal parts of the slots 30 and the lugs 26 engage in notches 21 formed in the ends of the side walls of the member 15. In this position the posts 9 bear resiliently against the underside of the locking members 22 and the cover members 2, 11 and sheets 8 are held in assembled relationship. The posts 9 can be unscrewed from the sockets 5 and replaced by posts of a different length. In modifications the locking members 22 are held in the locked position by spring-biased latches, or are slidable longitudinally under inturned flanges formed at the upper edges of the side walls of the member 15, or are formed as a single channel-shaped member having inturned lugs which engage L-shaped slots similar to, the slots 30 in the side walls of the member 15.
