Abstract
365,650. Metaltubes. SCOTT, W. H., Gothic Works, Norwich, and MOSSAY, P. A. H., 25, Dalton Road, Ipswich. Oct. 25, 1930, No. 32119. [Class 99 (ii).] The internal air of ' a totally enclosed dynamo or motor is circulated through tubes 12 having curved ends 11 nested in slots in a cylinder or cylinders, or segments of cylinders 9, 10 arranged between the end shields 5, 6, or between the end shields and the stator core of the machine. The bends 11 are expanded in the slots in the cylinders and fit around or inside the straight parts 12. The bends may be constructed of two pressed sheet-metal portions 11<1>, as shown in Fig. 6, nested in each other and connected by rivets 16. The rivets may be in the form of tubes with internal and external fins. The straight portions may be formed similarly or a single piece may be bent as shown in Fig. 7. Pressed out beadings 18 are formed in the bends to limit the depth to which they can be inserted in the cylinders. The cooling tubes may be dipped in hot solder after assembling or the whole machine may be dipped in a varnish tank. The tubes may be spot-welded. More than one row of tubes may be employed.
