[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Welding.-A polepiece for a dvnamo-electric machine is of substantially the same radial width throughout and is formed by bending a length of rolled steel into a curved section. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the polepiece 10 is formed by bending the bar 15, and this may have projections 19 which melt during the welding operation, when this method is used to fix the polepieces. The angle at the pole tips 20 is preferably small, and the side faces may be rounded as shown in Fig. 5. The casing may be a section of steel tubing.
