[Class 98 (i).] In a louvre shutter each blade is actuated bv a member which slidingly engages a surface either on or attached to the blade and traverses a path passing in close proximity to (but not through) the pivotal axis of the blade. In one construction the blades pivot either in the sides 12, Fig. 3, of the frame or in the ends of adjustable bolts 14. In the closed position the blades 1 rest on the corners 7, Fig. 1, of projections 6 on the frame. Each blade has an upstanding lug 3 which may be attached to the blade or stamped up. The lugs are engaged to open the shutter by a series of triggers 4, Fig. 4, on a slide 5. The blades may be spring-returned, or when the lugs are attached to the blades, returned by engagement of the triggers 4 with the surfaces 8 on the blades. Short additional triggers 9 on the slide 5 may be provided to hold the blades in the fully open and fully closed positions. The faces of the projections 6 may be shaped so that the blades in the open position are in convergent planes. In a modified construction, Fig. 8, the blades 1 (without lugs 3) are spring- returned and opened by a series of arms 4 on a shaft 16. This shaft may have a lateral reciprocating movement to and from the axes of the blades ; alternatively it may rotate either with a reciprocating or continuous movement.
