Abstract

365,077. Rod and tube joints. OWENS, W. J., 5, Catherine Place, Bath. Oct. 14, 1930, No. 30741. [Class 99 (i).] A rod joint comprises an overlapping portion on each rod, each portion having a projection 3a which engages in a recess 4a in the other rod, the rods being prevented from lateral separation by a sleeve 11 and a cotter 15, the end 14a of which is twisted after insertion. Hard metal sheaths 15a may be provided on the ends of the rods. Plugs similar to the ends of the rods may be used to join tubular members. Bars 18, 19, Fig. 5, abutting at 20 are joined by a bar 22 fitting in and secured. to the bar 19 and having a projection 23 which engages a slot in the bar 18. The joint is completed by a sleeve 21 and cotter 24.
