365,061. Fuel-injection pumps. ELLIS, L. S. E., 70, Chancery Lane, London.. -(Superior Engine Co.,. Inc. ; Springfield, Ohio, U.S.A.) Oct. 11, 1930, No. 30509.. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel-injection pump for an internal-com-- bustion engine comprises a low-pressure pump 21, which draws fuel from a main tank and delivers it to an auxiliary tank, and two alternately-acting high-pressure pumps 37, which draw fuel from the auxiliary tank and delivers it to the engine. A pump 12, operated by a hand.-lever 10, draws fuel from the auxiliary tank and delivers it to the engine at starting. The high- and low-pressure pumps are operated bv an intermediate shaft 3 with double-swell cams 4, 5. The plungers carry spring-pressed heads, which engage hollow crossheads 31, 35. The latter may carry rollers 30, 40, or may engage the cams directly. The inlet and delivery valves 48, 50 of each pump are contained in a body 44, which is secured by a stud 41 and a screw cap 42. An additional check valve 46 beneath the valve 48 is formed with a central passage, which directs liquid into a cylindrical extension of the valve 48.
