Abstract

364,981. Steam superheaters; serpentine tube heat exchangers. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Compagnie des Surchauffeurs Soc. Anon. ; 3, Rue la B÷etie, Paris.) April 30, 1931, No. 12767. Convention date, May 5, 1930. [Classes 64 (iii) and 123 (iii).] In a steam superheater or other tubular heat exchanger having gas baffles 9, 17 formed of juxtaposed straight portions of the serpentine tubes of the apparatus as described in Specification 313,803, [Class 123 (iii), Steam separators &c.], each tube lies wholly in a single plane transverse to the plane of the baffles, and a single straight part only of each tube is comprised in a baffle ; and the spacing of the parts is such that only at the baffles are the straight parts of adjacent tubes in a common transverse plane. A portion of the heating gases may return through conduit 7 and recirculate through the apparatus mixed with fresh gases from the firing means 1. The arrow head bends of baffle 9 are supported in a gastight manner in bracket 13, and the round bends of baffle 17 are rendered gastight by a plate 20.
