Abstract
364,600. Fuel injectors. CLERGET, P., 38, Rue Boileau, Paris. July 2, 1930, No. 20113. Convention date, July 5, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 7 (iii).] In a fluid - pressure actuated fuel injector the spraying nozzle is formed in two portions 4 and 13, fitted concentrically in the body 1, the inner portion 13 carrying a seating 18 for a hollow, spring- loaded needle valve 11. The latter is carried within a bush 6 around which a fuel space 22 is provided. To ensure the correct alignment of the members 6 and 13 they are centred by spigots 9a and 5 respectively. The fuel entering at 23 passes from the annular space 22 through flutings in the lower screwed portion 7a of the bush 6 to a chamber 19 separating the adjacent ends of the member 4 and 6, whence it flows to the valve seat through grooves formed on the inner surface of the member 13. On the opening of the valve the fuel passes through an axial passage and a number of radial passages into a circumferential groove and thence to the atomizing channels which may be formed on the conical coacting surfaces of either member 4 or 13 or both. The exposed surfaces of these members are recessed as shown to provide a circular ridge adjacent to the outlet of the atomizing channels ; the latter may be straight or helical and convergent or divergent.
