[Class 44.] An alms or cash box is made in two parts one of which forms a closure for the other, secured together by means enclosed within the box and operable only by a key or other implement inserted through the usual coinreceiving aperture. As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, a closure plate H, Fig. 2, with holes or lugs I by which it may be permanently secured to a wall &c. has a projection J with a transverse threaded hole housing a screw K. The box A, Fig. 1, has an open back D adapted to be closed by plate H and a socket E which receives projection J and is provided with apertures F which register with screw K, into one of which the screw may be projected, Fig. 3, to secure the parts together. The screw is operated by a key &c. B inserted through the coin-insertion slot G. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7, a cylindrical closure N, Fig. 6, which may be secured to a post or other support, has a closed upper end with coin slot G and an open lower end into which the box M, Fig. 7 (open at the top), can be inserted. Box M carries a transverse tube E with apertures F, the open ends of the tube registering with apertures in closure N. A separate headed member J is inserted through the apertures into tube E and is secured with a screw as above described. The projections E, J may be permanently secured to the box and closure or may be detachably secured thereto by screws, cotters, &c. and the projections may be of flat form, overlapping within the box. Various detail modifications are referred to, and other means than a screw may be used to fasten the parts together. According to the Provisional Specification the projection J may extend out through the front of the box and receive a padlock.
