Abstract
411,077. Locks. HILL & CO., Ltd., J., and TOMKINS, H., 100A, Queen Victoria Street, London. Feb. 27, 1934, No. 6324. [Class 44.] Reversible rim locks, rim latches and the like have a removable and reversible fore-end plate F provided with lugs A, A<1> which enter the lock case to retain the plate in its correct position pending the fixing of the lock to the door. A spring C on the lug A helps to hold the plate, and the screws, which fix the lock, pass through holes in the lugs A, A<1>. The plate may be flanged to fit against the face or the top and bottom edges of the lock case. In a modification, each lug is formed as a thin tongue A2, Fig. 4, which engages in a socket D formed by bending the wall of the lock casing. In another modification, the lug is formed of a bent metal plate fitting between the front and back plates of the casing. In the further modification shown in Fig. 8, bent sheet metal lugs A<4> are bent so as to be secured by the fixing screws, and the pins A<5> fit into sockets D on the casing. In another modification, a lug is formed by bending the end of the plate F into an eye through which the fixing screw passes.
