[Class 27.] Savings' boxes.- A coin - controlled perpetual calendar has a detachable coin receptacle and means for rendering the coin-controlled mechanism inoperable when the coin receptacle is removed from the body of the device. As shown the detachable coin receptacle or money box 45 is inserted into a recess in the box of the device with the coin inlet 46 in line with a shoot 47 into which the coin falls after the calendar has been changed, the coin being inserted into the device through a slot, in the top thereof and lodging in the two-part hopper of the date-changing mechanism described in Specification 328,881, [Class 27, Coin-freed apparatus &c.]. A lever 50 pivoted at 52 in one of the side plates of the device and provided with a rectangular notch 54 is forced by a spring 51 when the coin receptacle is detached, towards the actuating spindle 19 of the date-changing mechanism so that the notch 54 engages the squared end of the spindle and prevents its actuation. A lever 55 pivoted to the top of the receptacle 45 is turned to the vertical position, when the receptacle is to be attached, and passes through a slot in the base 48 of the device to engage the end of the lever 50 and move the notch 54 in the latter out of engagement with the spindle 19 which can then be actuated on the insertion of a coin : the lever 55 is turned down on the top of the receptacle 45 when it is removed from the device. The coin receptacle may be arranged as a drawer or may be enclosed in a member detachably connected with the device and is provided with a lid or closure adapted to be secured closed by a lock 49.
