[Class 141.] A brassiÞre has breast and waist sections composed of two or more thicknesses of material cut on the bias so that the warp and weft threads are arranged diagonally with respect to the zonal line of the garment, the breast sections being triangular in shape and the waist sections being shaped to produce a basque-like effect. Each breast part a has one corner a<1> attached at a<x> to a basque part b at the side and slightly rearwardly of the garment when on the wearer. At the front, the basque sections are free of the breast parts to which they may be attached by fastenings d<1> on the corners all. In one construction, bands or strips are attached at the top of the rear of the basque parts from the corner a<1> to the rear in overlapping relation. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, shoulder straps f connect the apex of a breast part with the rear parts of the basque parts, which themselves are connected by an elastic strip.
