[Class 98 (i).] In an X-ray in stallation compris ing a variator, e.g. a gas-filled lamp with a tungsten, nickel, &c. resistance wire, for keeping the dose output constant, arranged in the primary circuit of the transformer, the lamp holder of the variator is attached to the transformer envelope to obviate the use of separate connecting mains and to reduce risk of fracture. As shown, the lamp holder 10 is fixed to the cover of the transformer 1 and is surrounded by a perforated protecting-cap 9.
