[Class 98 (i).] To regulate the current supply, an X-ray tube anode circuit includes a variator, i.e. a conductor having within a definite region of voltage a resistance proportional to the voltage across its ends so that the current passing through it remains substantially constant. The variator may comprise a wire of iron, tungsten, or molybdenum in a suitable gasfilling such as hydrogen, nitrogen, or a rare gas. In one form the primary circuit of the transformer 2 is connected in series with the variator 6 and the secondary of an auxiliary regulating transformer 5. A second variator may be used to maintain constant the filament current. The device may be used for therapeutical purposes or for radiographic examinations.
