Abstract

363,458. Rope railways &c. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK AKTGES., 24, Schanzerstrasse, M³lheim, Cologne, Germany. Oct. 24, 1930, No. 31983. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1929. [Classes 78 (iv) and 104 (ii).] The carrying ropes of cable ways, cable cranes, &c. are periodically turned about their axes to distribute the wear over the surface. The head to which the rope end is connected is pivoted at a to a spindle b rotatably mounted in a housing A and secured to a gear wheel m<2>. A second spindle c coaxial with the spindle b carries a gear wheel m<1> having a different number of teeth from the wheel m<2>, and is fixed to the suspension means d for the rope. The wheels m<1>, m<2> gear with pinions el, e2 in different ratios, the pinions being mounted on a shaft p rotatably mounted in the housing A. By turning the housing about the axis of the shafts b, c, the wheel m<2> and shaft b are rotated, thus turning the rope. In another form, the rope is turned by means of worm gear.
