Abstract

363,401. Cans. MANDER BROS., Ltd. and COX, F. W., John Street, Wolverhampton. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27825. [Class 125 (iii).] A can A having a lever lid, preferably domed at H, is characterized in that a narrow fold e is provided, by bending the metal inwardly upon itself, to form an upper ring contact with the surface J of the lid, the bottom f of the portion D of the can forming a rib to act as a second ring of contact with the surface J of the lid, a space being left between the fold and the rib. To maintain the lid more firmly in place, the metal of the lid may be forced outwardly at a point partially to occupy the space under the fold e. The edge of the lid may be curled over at j, leaving a space sufficient to receive the fold e. The construction is stated to be also applicable to a cap fitting lid the lower edge of which is folded inwardly.
