[Class 139.] Escapements.-A device for producing a sustained musical note or for regulating the speed of clockwork or other mechanism (e.g. gramophones, electric motors) comprises a tuning-fork or reed 1 formed with a projection 2 radially engaging between the teeth of a wheel 3 driven by the motor, the relative speeds being such that the motor drives the fork but the fork controls the speed of the motor. Fine adjustment of the position of the fork is provided at 12, 15.
