Abstract
363,323. Annealing. HIRSCH KUPFERUND MESSINGWERKE AKT.-GES., Messingwerk, near Eberswalde, Germany. June 10, 1930, No. 17873. Convention date, June 10, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 72.] In treating metal bodies, e.g. cartridge cases, which require local annealing, the parts of the bodies which require annealing are subjected to the action of an alternating electromagnetic field, for example by introducing them into the interior of an induction coil. In the form shown in Fig. 1 cartridge cases 3 are mounted round the inner circumference of discs 2 which are rotated and caused to slide forwards and backwards on the supporting shaft so as alternately to insert and remove the ends of the cases into and out of an induction coil 2. Alternatively the coil 2 may be moved from side to side while the discs rotate, the movements being in each case controlled by a grooved cylinder rotated by the motor which rotates the discs. In Fig. 2 the cartridge cases are fastened to endless bands 6 running over wheels 4, 5, a disc 7 which can be moved sideways and which carries induction coils 8 being mounted between each pair of wheels. Alternatively, Fig. 3, the cartridge cases 11 may be mounted on an endless band 9 arranged so that the ends to be annealed enter induction coils 12 extending radially from the circumference of a disc 10 rotating in the same plane as the endless band. In Fig. 4 the cartridge cases are arranged on both sides of an endless band 13 and two sets of coils 14, 15 are provided rotating in a plane at right-angles to the plane of rotation of the wheels carrying the band.
