Abstract

363,278. Thermal switches. AKTIEBOLAGET BIRKA REGULATOR, 48, Surbrunnsgatan, Stockholm. May 18, 1931, No. 14666. Convention date, May 21, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] A thermal switch, which is specially adapted for being placed in an evacuated or gas-filled receptacle, comprises a helical bimetallic strip 7 fixed at its upper end 8 and connected at its lower end to a contact rod 4 carrying at its side a roller or other projection 9 which engages a fixed cam surface 10. Change of temperature causes the bimetallic coil to rotate the rod 4 and the roller 9 riding on the cam 10 causes the contact rod 4, which has been pressed by the resilience of the coil against a fixed contact 1, to move also longitudinally out of engagement with the contact 1.
