Abstract

363,016. Cooling towers. ARUP, 0. N., Derrylands, Waldron Road, Harrow, Middlesex, CHRISTIANI, R. and NIELSEN, A., (trading as CHRISTIANI & NIELSEN), 72, Victoria Street, London. Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28481. [Class 29.] A water &c. cooling-tower comprises a framework of rigid concrete or metal, e.g. rustless steel, members to which a light walling of timber &c. is secured. The tower may be constructed of tiers of concrete triangles 4, Figs. 1 and 3, the frames being assembled in situ and with their apices shaped to interlock and to be connected by eyebolts 12, Fig. 5, passing through metal sleeves 13 and connected by a central pin 17. The space accommodating the pin 17 may be grouted with lead or concrete, and the usual concrete water tank may be formed integrally with the base tier of the tower. In a modification, each tier is formed of precast inclined struts erected on a concrete ring, the upper ends of the struts being secured to a superposed ring.
