Abstract

[Classes 31 (i) and 140.] A paper flask or bottle is made by glueing a paper blank and winding it on a conical mandrel and then impressing the lower part of the wound conical tube with radially inward folds increasing in depth towards the bottom so as to impart a cylindrical form to such lower part; the folds may subsequently be folded against the internal periphery of the tube. As shown in the Figure, a paper web is drawn from a roll 2 and semicircular blanks 5 are punched therefrom and carried along by the web to adjacent rollers 10, 12, the roller 12 printing one half of the blank and the roller 10 supplying the other half with glue and detaching the blank from the waste web which is wound upon a reel.
