Abstract
362,599. Cauterizing-appliances. MOULIN, E., 2, Boulevard Vauban, Marseilles, France. Oct. 21, 1930, No. 31535. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1929. [Class 81 (ii).] An electric igniter consists of an electric transformer 2 the primary circuit of which may be connected to the mains, through a switch lever 7 that is normally maintained in the open position against the resistance of a spring 8 by the weight of a lighting device resting on an extension of the lever beyond the transformer casing 1. The lighting device comprises a sleeve 20 carrying a conducting tube 15 and a connecting rod 17 which are insulated from one another, and are connected by leads 14 to the secondary circuit of the transformer. A spiral heating resistance 27 is secured at one end by a screw 28 to a metal cap 23 on the tube 15 and at the other end to a metal piece 24 which is insulated from the cap 23 by a sleeve 25, and carries a screw 26 contacting with the rod 17. When the lighting device is lifted from the switch lever 7, the primary circuit to the transformer is closed and the resistance 27 in the secondary circuit becomes heated to incandescence. The resistance may be embedded in insulating material. The cap 23 may be replaced by a cap adapted for thermocautery.
