Abstract

<PICT:0424953/III/1> In indicating or measuring devices depending on the thermal expansion of a heated wire resulting from the combustion of inflammable gases, the wire is subjected to tension at two points A and B. The latter force takes up the extension due to the heating of the wire by the electric current; it is preferably applied at the end of the wire by means of an electromagnet h or a spring, and the movement is limited to the amount of extension produced by the heating current. The other tension, preferably applied transversely at the middle of the wire, takes up the further expansion due to the presence of combustible gas, and operates an indicating or measuring device.
