Abstract

<PICT:0342995/III/1> An apparatus for analyzing flue gases comprises a combustion chamber d which is periodically heated and through which the gas to be tested is led to an apparatus b of known type for estimating carbon dioxide. The increased reading of the instrument during the period of heating indicates the amount of carbon monoxide present in the original gas. The heating may be effected by means of an electric resistance e controlled either by a clock-driven switch or by a device which switches on the current when the temperature falls to a certain point and cuts it off again when the temperature has risen to a predetermined value. In a modification, the chamber is heated in stages, e.g. to 250 DEG C. and 700 DEG C. respectively.
