Abstract
A cleansing medium for animal or vegetable textile fibres such as wool, silk, seed, bast, fruit, leaf, straw, wood and other cellulose fibres, feathers, hair or funs, consists of an emulsion miscible with water wherein an aqueous solution of an acid or an acid salt serves as the dispersion medium, a volatile organic fat solvent or mixture of solvents of density substantially equal to that of the dispersion medium being dispersed therein, a vegetable mucus as a thickening medium, and as stabilizer for the emulsion an alcoholic formalin solution, sour milk or skimmed milk. Acids or acid salts suitable are sulphurous acid, sodium bisulphite, sodium sulphite, chlorsulphonic acid, boric acid, phosphoric acid, benzoic acid, tartaric acid or lactic acid, and oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, permanganate or perborate of sodium, or reducing agents such as sulphur dioxide or sodium hydrosulphite, may be added. The vegetable mucus may be gum arabic or the like, alga, moss or tang mucus. Examples of the medium are (1) a tragacanth solution, a carragheen or Irish moss mucus solution and an agar solution are mixed with benzine and trichlorethylene, a solution of oxalic acid and sodium bisulphite is added and after stirring a mixture of formalin and butyl alcohol; (2) a tragacanth solution is mixed with a solution of tartaric acid and sour milk in water and the fat solvent mixture referred to above.ALSO:A cleansing medium for animal or vegetable textile fibres such as wool, silk, seed, bast, fruit, leaf, straw, wood, and other cellulose fibres, feathers, hair or furs, consists of an emulsion miscible with water wherein an aqueous solution of an acid or an acid salt serves as the dispersion medium. A volatile organic fat solvent or solvents of density approximately equal to that of the dispersion medium being dispersed therein, a vegetable mucus as a thickening medium and as stabilizer for the emulsion an alcoholic formalin solution, sour milk or skimmed milk acids or acid salts suitable are sulphurous acid, sodium bisulphite, sodium sulphite, chlorosulphonic acid, boric acid, phosphoric acid, benzoic acid, tartaric acid or lactic acid, and oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, permanganate or perborate of sodium, or reducing agents such as sulphur dioxide or sodium hydrosulphite, may be added.
