Process for the preparation of flax fibers The preparation .der
Flax fiber is currently operated almost unchanged as it was in ancient times. Of the
Raw flax is roasted in water, the flax straw being completely
is destroyed and the flax fiber remains with a gray-brown color.
The present invention enables; the fiber in about 8 to 10 hours
in snow-white consistency with complete preservation of flax straw and
to extract some of the pectin substances.
besonders raschen, vorteilhaften Wirkung.
According to the invention, the flax fibers freed from the straw are optionally
after pre-cleaning by hydrolysis using hexamethylenetetramine, with papain
biehandelt. The treatment of the flax fibers separated from the straw with an enzyme bath
is known per se, but papain has the advantage over the other enzymes
particularly rapid, beneficial effect. It has. reveal that with very, minor
Amounts of papain can already have effects that other enzymes only
can be achieved with larger quantities and lengthy treatment.
An advantageous mode of operation for the method according to the invention
is as follows: The dried raw flax is completely cut off in a machine
freed from the straw that can be used to make cellulose. the
Raw flax fiber that has been mechanically processed in this way is poured into warm water from
treated about 60 ° with 1 to 2% hexamethylenetetramine (based on the fiber weight),
this forms a water-soluble double compound with part of the
Pectin fabrics. Instead of hexamethylenetetramine, formic acid can also be advantageous
can be used, which is particularly characterized by its great preservative power.
The fiber is now rinsed well with water, then fresh warm water is added
of about 30 ° with an infusion of Carica papaya, whereby. : the pectin substances
hydrolyzed within a few hours and completely dissolved.
etwa i Stunde behandelt.
The fiber is then rinsed off again with water and finally processed in a lot of water at a temperature of 0 to 5 ° with a toluene-containing soap emulsicin with continuous movement. Instead of the toluene, which is particularly suitable, can also. its homologues and other hydrocarbons known as solvents, which are ally not substituted by chlorine, nitrogen or oxygen, can be used. After rinsing again, the fiber is dried. It is long-grained, pure and white. EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS 1. 100 kg of raw flax plants are freed from flax straw in the deforestation machine and the 2o kg of raw flax fibers obtained are added to water in a dishwasher with a bath of q.0 to 60 g of hexamethylentetranzri, approximately zoo 1 treated at a temperature of about 60 ° with constant movement for about an hour. The water turns into a dark brown broth, which contains some of the pectin and most of the mechanical impurities in the fiber. After draining the broth, the fibers are rinsed thoroughly several times with pure lukewarm water. Then warm water at 30 ° is added and this bath is mixed with an pouring of Carica papaya. Served pouring; must not be over 35 ' warm. In this bath, the barrels are treated with constant agitation for 2 to 3 hours. The well-rinsed fiber is then placed in a bath of potassium soap emulsion with about i / 2o / o soap content and about 10o toluene added. In this bath, the fibers are treated for about 2 hours with vigorous agitation at 90 to 95 °: then abundantly washed out and dried.
II.
Instead of hexamethylenetetramine, formic acid is used in one concentration
from about 3% applied at about 25 to 35 '; Otherwise, the procedure is as in Example i.
The method according to the invention has compared to the usual roasting process
besönders the advantage of a significantly greater economic efficiency. There. the roast
in open waters, especially rivers and lakes, because of pollution
of water and nuisance caused by bad smells is prohibited by law, the must
Roasting establishments have larger plots of land with a water supply, and the effort
of water increases operating costs. Furthermore, the space requirement is disproportionate because of the
, large amount, of flax straw,: that: is treated with .the roasting, very much
loading, 4, eating; and the expense of labor and running costs is also reduced
@ er-Ilöht. The method according to the invention arises in all of these relationships
much more advantageous. In addition, the product is significantly better than the ordinary one
Flarhs toast, although the production is not more expensive. The manufactured according to her invention
Fiber is very long and uniform and is characterized by great purity and snow-white
Color without the fiber being weakened by special bleaching processes. Of the
The main advantage, however, is the essential shortening of the treatment duration. While that
Ordinary tub roasting requires at least 6 days of treatment
and also the further processing: the rotten flax because of the amount -des
rotten straw is very time-consuming and cumbersome, the process continues
the invention of crem raw flax to ready-to-spin fibers at most 8 to 10
Hours, and, after-treatment of rotted flax straw does not take place.
Rather, the straw is already in a dry state before the chemical treatment
separated from the fibers in the de-lumbering machine, and a treatment of wet,
rotten straw does not take place at all. The fiber obtained falls as a result
especially long that there is no swinging and deforestation after the rottun.
