[Class 87 (ii).] In apparatus for cutting blocks from a bar of plastic toffee or like material and wrapping up the severed blocks, the mechanism for feeding the bar to the cutter is carried by a bracket which is mounted, preferably on a pivot, for movement on the machine away from or towards the cutter, so that the latter is rendered accessible for cleansing &c. In the apparatus shown a bar 13 of toffee is fed by rollers 19, 20 to a knife 14, which may be of the kind described in Specification 351,993, and the blocks 12 cut off are pushed, each with its wrapper, into pockets on the periphery of a rotary wrapping-wheel 10. The feed rollers are mounted in a bracket 18 which can turn about a pivot pin 26 on the main frame 25 and is held in the operative position by a spring-pressed locking pin 33, which can be released by means of a handle 29. When the feed mechanism is in the operative position a lay-shaft 37 on the bracket is connected by a dog-clutch 38, 39, to a driving-shaft 36 on the main frame. The shaft 37 carries a spur wheel 40 which engages with a spur wheel 42 on the shaft of the roller 20. An endless chain 50 passes round sprockets 41, 44, 45 on the shaft 37 and the shafts of the rollers 19, 20, respectively, and also round an idler sprocket 47 by means of which its tension may be adjusted. When the bracket 18 is not in the operative position the feed rolls can be turned by means of a hand-wheel 52 on the shaft 37. The Provisional Specification states that the cutting- device may comprise a reciprocatable blade and a shear-plate.
