Abstract
361,779. Liquid and pulverulent fuel furnaces. BOLT, F. L., 15, Latimer Street, Tynemouth, and WALLSEND SLIPWAY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Wallsend-on- Tyne. March 21, 1931, No. 8768. [Class 51 (i).] A furnace front adapted for burning liquid or pulverulent fuel or both of these fuels comprises an axially adjustable cylindro-conical member 7, the conical part 13 of which constitutes a flame cone and is provided with perforations 14, while the cylindrical part surrounds the burner 6 and is adapted to slide on the burner carrier 15, an intermediate member 2 spaced from the member 7 and an annular member 1 of conical form provided with vanes 5 and openings 3 for the admission of air from the chamber 4. A ring 9 at the base of the conical member 1 impedes the flow of air in a direction parallel to the axis of the burner. A sleeve valve 8 controls the admission of air from the chamber 4 to the space between the members 2, 7. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the cylindroconical member 7 is surrounded by intermediate and annular cylinders 18, 17, vanes being provided at 17<1> and a sleeve valve being provided at 8 for the purpose stated above. In both forms of the invention described above pulverulent fuel burners may be provided in which liquid fuel burners may be arranged so as to change over from one kind of fuel to the other. Specifications 229,812 and 254,618, [both in Class 51 (i), Furnaces and kilns, Combustion apparatus of], are referred to.
