Abstract
361,579. Moulding pipes in centrifugal moulds. DODD, E. V., 89, Church Street, Greenwich, London. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33267. [Class 87 (ii).] A centrifugal moulding machine for pipes is provided with a movable core which is arranged to bear upon the top of the material and be lifted by it as the moulding progresses, thus assisting in consolidating it. In the illustrated form, material from the shoot 18 runs into the mould 6 supported on the rotating table I. The core 13 supported from the guided head 14 is partially counterweighted at 19 or loaded in accordance with the pressure it is desired to apply to the material. Projecting members 16, at the upper end of the core, are hinged to press upon the upper surface of the concrete and are lifted to raise the core by the rising level of the concrete as the operation proceeds. The bearing portion 17 of the members 16 is of arcuate shape as shown in plan in Fig. 6, and may be.shaped so as to mould a socket at the upper end of the pipe after the core has ceased to rise.
