Abstract
163,321. Cottom, A. E. May 10, 1921. Drying-apparatus ; cased forms.-In casting a support g, Fig. 3, for shaping and drying stockings &c. about a pipe a for steam, the pipe, after being filled with sand and plugged, is bent to the required shape by dies b, Fig. 2, then flattened, after removing sand, and finally re-filled with sand, heated and inserted in a sand mould d, Fig. 1, wherein it is supported between chaplets e. Molten metal, clay &c. is then poured in, through a gate f, and when the casting has cooled it is dressed and the ends of the pipe flared out to prevent steam from passing down the outside thereof. The groove i is to allow connection to a steam-supply pipe. The pipe may be bent to follow the contour of the support g. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that air may be passed through the pipe and that the support may be pressed from clay. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
