Abstract
361,401. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. FABRIK EXPLOSIONSSICHERER GEF€SSE SALZKOTTEN GES., Salzkotten, Germany. Aug. 14, 1930, No. 24348. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 3, 1930.] Addition to 361,427. [Class 106 (v).] The spaces above and below a piston 2 working in a vertical transparent cylinder 1 are alternately charged and discharged in response to the movements of a valve 16 having connections 17, 18 to supply and delivery respectively. The accumulation of air or gas beneath the piston is prevented by a duct 7 secured in the piston and having an opening 8 close to the highest point. This duct depends into the lower part of the channel 4 which is constricted where it emerges into the cylinder 1. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the duct 7 may project lower still into a cavity formed by a removable cap. On first using the apparatus a cotter pin prevents the piston from rising until the air has been driven from beneath the piston. The cotter is then withdrawn, the cap screwed on, and normal working ensues. The tube 7 may be omitted, and the bottom of the piston made to be flush on the cylinder end. The passage to the valve 16 is conical, and may be entirely filled by a projection from the bolt which holds together the piston and its washers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
