Abstract

361,063. Ventilating and heating apparatus. ECKMANN, I., 40, Bassett Gardens, Osterley, Middlesex. Oct. 9, 1930, No. 30200. [Class 137.] In a ventilating heater in which heating elements are arranged in a vertical duct into the bottom of which is drawn internal or external air or a mixture of the two, to be discharged into the room at the upper end of the duct, the heating elements comprise electric resistors 8 under the control of switches 9 and there is provided an air intake valve 10 which, while regulating the relative proportions of internal and external air does not appreciably alter the total volume of air passing the heater. This prevents the overheating of the resistors and the consequent increase in temperature of the warm air discharged to the room. The duct 3 is built into an outer wall 1 of a room 2 and communicates with the room at about floor level at 7 and with the outside atmosphere at 4. Warm air is discharged to the room near the ceiling.
