Abstract

The treatment of textiles with liquids is effected in the presence of a water-soluble salt of an aliphatic primary or secondary amino monocarboxylic acid substituted on the nitrogen atom by a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue containing more than eight carbon atoms. The salts may act as washing or dispersing agents. In examples, (1) a washing preparation is prepared by stirring methylcyclohexanol and oleyl sarcosine sodium salt into water; the preparation can be used in conjunction with other washing agents, such as soap; (2) solvents such as glycol, oil of turpentine, acetone, methylcyclohexanone, or glycol monocresyl ether are used in admixture with oleyl sarcosine sodium salt as in example (1).ALSO:The treatment of textiles with liquids is effected in the presence of a water-soluble salt of an aliphatic primary or secondary amino monocarboxylic acid substituted on the nitrogen atom by a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue containing more than eight carbon atoms. In the examples, (1) viscose silk is dyed in a bath containing Benzo blue 2B, sodium sulphate, and stearyl sarcosine sodium salt; the latter salt may be added to the last rinsing water instead of to the dye-bath; (2) cotton warps are sized in a bath containing potato meal and oleyl sarcosine sodium salt; (3) a washing preparation for textiles is prepared by stirring methylcyclohexanol and oleyl sarcosine sodium salt into water; the preparation can be used in conjunction with other washing agents, such as soap or alkalies; (4) oleyl sarcosine is dissolved in caustic soda mercerizing lye; (5) solvents such as glycol, oil of turpentine, acetone, methylcyclohexanone, or glycol monocresyl ether are used in admixture with oleyl sarcosine sodium salt as in example 3; (6) cotton is dyed in a bath containing Cotton red 4B, sodium carbonate, sodium sulphate, and oleyl sarcosine; the latter may be replaced by oleyl glycine or oleyl a - or b -alanine. Oleyl sarcosine, oleyl glycine, and oleyl a - and b -alanine are prepared by condensing oleic acid chloride with the appropriate aminoacid in the presence of an acid-binding agent. Stearyl sarcosine is prepared similarly from stearic acid chloride and sarcosine.
